Coaches Corner - Weekly Thoughts for the Team

  • We had a few issues last week that we covered as a full team on Tuesday at practice.

  • Just wanted to remind everyone what we discussed.

  • – CONNECTED TEAM - We want our guys to be each other’s biggest fans.  That means we are out of camp and cheering our teammates on.

  • – CLASS - We want to represent Roland-Story with class in how we act and how we talk. The great thing about having class is anyone can do it no matter what your talent level is.

  • – PRIDE - We want to take a great deal of pride in who we are as individuals and as a team and represent that in the same manor.

  • – PREPARED - We want to be prepared for every opportunity.  This means our warmups should be perfect and our work in skilled areas like race strategy, block work, field event skills, and baton work is something we work on when we have a chance.

  • These things should not just carry over week-to-week duing track but we discussed how they should carry over into our day-to-day lives.

  • Parents, we appreciate your support in reinforcing these principles with the boys.

  • Lastly, we are getting close to moving from our “competition” stage of training to our “championship” stage.  These last few weeks of April are very important to finding the right pieces to make our team the best it can be in May.  Everyone needs to take full advantage of the opportunities that we have in front of us.
