4 Weeks Off - Announcements

Norse Track Boys,

I wanted to send out some general info about what we know and what we should be doing as a team during this time. As I said on Friday before break...this is all happening and changing so rapidly and we need to be prepared for things to continue changing. Keep in mind this is unprecedented in my time as a teacher/coach and how we respond as a track team will be the most important part. We have talked this season about two key things and those things need to remain as important now as they were a week ago; No Excuses & Predator Mindset.

** What do we know:

- - Roland-Story has called off school (and all activities) for at least four weeks per the Governor's announced recommendations.

- - This means no team activities of any kind during this 4-week period.

- - The Iowa HS Unified Activities Partners have suspended all activities for the next four weeks as well.

- - This means that all spring sports are SUSPENDED not CANCELED. This could change but it does mean that we will plan, at the end of four weeks, to start track back up.

** What should we be doing:

- - Based on what we know above we need to prepare ourselves to come back in four weeks ready to go.

- - Right now, I have loaded two spring break workout plans on to the website https://bpetersen5.wixsite.com/rs-boys-track/spring-break-practices

- - Use these workouts and start doing them on your own. I still think this week (spring break week) should be used as a rest/relax and light workout week. (2/3 days for sprinters and 3/4 days for distance).

- - However, starting next week you need to step up the workouts. Sprinters should move to doing 4 workouts (from that list) a week and Distance guys should move to 5 a week. Please keep up with that routine through the next few weeks.

**Notes

- - If you want to work with another athlete or 2 that is fine but please limit it to no more than 4 people. We really want to make sure everyone stays healthy through all of this.

As I said above we want to keep our two season keys in our mind and they are actually perfect for this situation.

1. No Excuses - Whatever happens the next several weeks each of us as individuals will have no excuses if we are not ready when the season starts back up. We need to be able to self motivate and discipline ourselves to do the entire workout and do it well (discipline = do what you are suppose to do as well as you can do it).

2. Predator Mindset - Eyes in the front = only focus on what you can control. Eyes on the side = focused on everything outside of our control. We can each control the next four weeks for ourselves.

We, as coaches, are really going to miss coaching this team over the next few weeks but stay the course and keep active and working out. We have a great group of guys and I am very proud to say I get to coach each and everyone of you. Please message (on Remind) or email me if you have any questions at all. Stay healthy and enjoy the extra time with your family.
