Please read through all of the following notes for the end of the 2017 track season:
1. End-of-Season Social/Awards day: will be this Thursday, May 25th after school which will be about 2:45 since we get out early. We will meet in the commons and have ice cream, do awards, and talk. Plan on about 30-40 minutes.
2. Uniform Turn-in: For all of you that still have uniforms you can turn them into me after school any day from now until Thursday's meeting. After that I will consider them late and either charge you or not allow you to play your next sport until it is in.
3. SENIOR THANK YOU: I wanted to take a little time and say thank you to the seniors (I will do this again on Thursday) for everything you have done for the program. Our poster talked about "Leaving a Legacy" and you guys certainly did that. Sometimes, a legacy cannot be felt for a long time but many of the successes of our future teams are due to YOUR LEGACY. Of the many things that you have done I want to draw special attention to a few of them. First of all, you made track important to you and therefore to those around you...this is not always the case and I can say we have had years with plenty of talent but results didn't show because track wasn't taken as seriously by our leaders. This is true of all of you, even if other sports are your favorites (like football or baseball) you made track important and for that I thank you. Secondly, you guys worked very hard to get to where you are at and that is so important to the future groups. From Dakota spending so much time running on his own in the off-season to Brett and Caleb working on their starts so that no one beat them out of the blocks and even to the countless hours spent in the weight room over that last 4-years. I could think of a million small examples for most of you but I don't have enough space to type that here. Just understand that all of that was and is important for your legacy. Kids coming up in our program now know the standard of work to be good at something and that is due to guys like you! Thanks!
4. UNDERCLASSMEN CHALLENGE: The talent in our younger groups coming up is there to be very successful next year and into the future...However, the challenge, is you need to spend time getting better between now and next season. This means get out and run (distance guys), do speed and agility training (sprinters), get in the weight room, be out for other sports. Don't be content with being a year older next season and thinking that is good enough. Please don't be like 80% of all athletes in the State who think they can show up each season and just be better. The culture here for R-S HAS TO BE one of hard work to get what we want. This is a legacy that was left by this year's seniors and it is one we need to carry on to all future Norsemen.
