Here are the reminders for this week in track:
1. First off we had a great night on Friday. Like we said in the shed after the meet it appeared as if everyone “COMPETES’ when they step up to their event. This is 75% of the battle and if we continue to practice well and perfect the little things we will be very happy with where we are at in May.
2. We are scheduled for 3 meets this week; a JV meet tomorrow in Ames starting at 4:00pm. JV guys will get out of school at 2:45pm and leave for Ames at 2:55pm. We have a varsity and PARTIAL JV meet at Gilbert on Tuesday. We get out of school at 3:05 and leave at 3:15pm to Gilbert. Lastly we have a varsity and PARTIAL JV meet at Nevada on Thursday. We get out of school at 3:00 and leave at 3:05pm to Nevada.
3. Dress warm for each meet this week as temps seem to hover in the 50s for most the week.
4. Practice will now start to revolve around recovery, specials (blocks, hurdles, HJ, etc…), and race mimicry (hand offs, race pace, etc). Bring best effort each night and don’t forget spikes.
5. After just 1 outdoor meet here is where we currently rank in 2A events:
a. 100 – 2 in top 20
b. 110HH – 1 in top 25
c. 200 – 1 in top 12
d. 400 – 1 in top 22
e. 800 - 1 in top 10
f. 1600 – 1 in top 6
g. 3200 – 1 in top 3
h.HJ - 1 in top 20
i. Shot Put – 1 in top 12
j. Discus – 2 in top 20

o. Sprint Med – Top 7
p. Dist Med – Top 3
q. WC 1, 2, 4 – 1st
r. WC Shot – Top 2
All this proves is that we have started the season great and all of our hard work has already started to show up. The great news about this is we always end up better at the end of the season with the way that we train. Hopefully this keeps you motivated to continue working hard each and everyday.
